Absentee funeral prayer in Islam, known as Salat al-Gha’ib has been observed for the soul of late business mogul, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, in Kano, on Saturday.
The Hadith, or traditions of Muhammad, fully endorse offering funeral prayers for an absent person.
Dantata died at age 94 in the wee hours of Saturday in Abu Dhabi, UAE, and his body was transported to Madina, Saudi Arabia, for burial based on a will left before his passing.
Led by the Chairman of Kano State Council of Ulama, Sheikh Ibrahim Khalil, the Ga’ib prayer was attended by a mammoth crowd of Kano people.
Dignitaries who graced the prayer session included the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, Commandant General of Kano State Hisbah Board, Sheikh Ibrahim Aminu Daurawa, and members of Kano State Executive Council among many other dignitaries from the business community
The prayer was observed at the Umar bn Khattab mosque, located along Zaria Road, Gyadi-gyadi in Kano metropolis.
