Ganduje-Kwankwaso Row: No Truce In Sight
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO, ABUJA – Ahead of expected success story from Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s appointment as presidential troubleshooter in the governing All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state says parting ways with Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso, his predecessor, is way beyond redemption.
This is as Governor Ganduje maintained that the differences between him and the former Governor are so irreconcilable that any effort at a ceasefire would only be in futility.
The Governor, who spoke at an official function in Kano on Wednesday, regretted that his administration has consistently come under unwarranted attacks from the former governor’s camp since his assumption of office without any cause.
“We have had enough of such a vendetta, which had been raging with no end in sight. So, we have parted ways with Kwankwasiyya forever”, Governor Ganduje vowed
According to him, his administration has maintained levelheadedness in the face of deliberate distractions and attempts by the Kwankwaso group to derail its programmes, adding, in the process, “They have erroneously believed and have been telling people that we are on the road to losing our seat in the 2019 general election.”
Governor Ganduje, who described such permutation as ‘laughable and a mere ranting of a wounded lion’, however urged on all APC members in Kano state to remain focus and work towards the Party’s victory in 2019.
Insiders hinted that though both sides have been talking tough in recent times, the recent appointment of Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu by President Buhari to troubleshoot in the Party still gives some hope that reconciliation is possible between the warring groups.
However, one insider said the APC must move quickly to address the festering crisis in its Kano State chapter given the mounting tension between supporters of Governor Ganduje and Senator Kwankwaso over political supremacy.
