The Independent Corrupt Practices and other Offences Related Commission (ICPC) has questioned Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President, over the disputed Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) controversy.
Amid the resulting bribery allegations and counter allegations, President Bola Tinubu had ordered a 30-day ICPC investigation into the alleged fake Council and on Monday, July 20, the lawyer representing the Chief of Staff, Jiti Ogunye confirmed that his client appeared before the anti-graft Commission for interrogation regarding the controversy.
In a brief statement made available to the media, Ogunye said: “In full cooperation with the ICPC acting as directed by the President of Nigeria, I hereby confirm that my client, Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to the President of Nigeria, responded to the invitation of t and appeared at about 15:00hrs on Monday, July 20, 2026, as part of the ongoing investigation into the activities of the ‘PFIPC’ fake agency, among others.
“My client gave his testimony, responded to questions accordingly, and has returned to his duty post.”
Before the Police finally arrested him last week, Adeniyi Adeyemi was a man spinning a web of staggering, high-stakes claims that in buying the position, he had literally borrowed ₦400 million to bankroll his appointment with the CoS.
The now-detained ‘phony’ Council boss had demanded that the Chief of Staff should be questioned about the controversial death of Tanimola, even Gbajabiamila denied all the allegations and filed a N15 billion suit against him.
