Glo Subscribers To Be Barred From Calling MTN Lines Soon — NCC
Following the non-payment of interconnect rates, Globacom subscribers may soon be unable to make calls to MTN lines.
This was announced by the regulatory agency, the Nigerian Communications Commission on Monday, January 8, 2024, saying that the Commission had earlier given Globacom partial clearance for disconnection from MTN Nigeria Communications Plc.
The NCC statement signed by Reuben Muoka, Director of Public Affairs Department explained that Globacom was notified of the application made by MTN and was given the opportunity to comment and state its case.
According to Mouka; “The Commission, having examined the application and circumstances surrounding the indebtedness, determined that Globacom does not have sufficient or justifiable reason for non-payment of the interconnect charges”.
The Commission further said that at the expiration of 10 days from the date of this notice, “subscribers of Globacom will no longer be able to make calls to MTN but will be able to receive calls”.
The NCC however said that the partial disconnection will allow in-bound calls to the Globacom network.
