The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday, March 20, 2026, said that it is most painful that people who promised and were elected and appointed to secure Nigeria are wining, dining, and dancing in a faraway land, whilst terrorists are killing and kidnapping citizens rampantly.

It pointedly challenged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to deploy his famed political ‘mastery’ to provide a solution to the security of lives and property, stressing that Nigerians are tired of being killed for no reason.

The PDP which stated these while reacting to the just-released Global Terrorism Index 2026 by the Institute for Economics and Peace indicates that our country, under the leadership of the APC-led government, noted that sadly, Nigeria has infamously earned a fourth position in the world on the impact of terrorism survey under President Tinubu.

The Global Terrorism Index report indicated that Nigeria and four other countries accounted for almost 70 percent of deaths from terrorism, adding that Nigeria also had one of the two largest increases in deaths from terrorism.

The PDP in a statement by comrade Ini Ememobong, National Publicity Secretary stated that while the report is not surprising to Nigerians, it however aligned with the daily lived reality of Nigerians, who are now more insecure than they have ever been in this Fourth Republic.

In the words of Ememobong; “In fact, under President Tinubu’s watch, insecurity has not just become very lucrative, it has attained a trillion-naira economy status”.

The PDP therefore called on President Tinubu and the entire security hierarchy to stop performing reactive responses that have defined post-attack communications and rather adopt a whole-of-society approach towards solving insecurity.

The opposition party also urged the President and the APC-led government to evolve programmes and policies capable of delivering negative peace (cessation of attacks and incidents) immediately and provide the basis for positive peace (voluntary and unforced harmonious co-existence).

“It needs reminding that the primary duty of every Government is the protection of lives and property-a task that this administration has consistently failed glaringly,” the PDP said.
