Goronyo Inspects, Applauds FERMA Road Projects In Nasarawa State
The Minister of State for Works, Mr Bello Mohammad Goronyo has commended the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), for the quality of work carried out on two major roads that share border between Nasarawa State and two states namely Kaduna and Plateau.
This was as the minister thanked President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his commitment to road infrastructural development across the nation under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Minister gave the commendation while inspecting the Keffi–Gitata–Kaduna State boarder road and the Keffi – Gitata–Shendam, Plateau State boarder road in Nasarawa State, in the company of the Managing Director/CEO, FERMA, Dr. Emeka Agbasi.
The projects were carried out through contract and direct labour maintenance in the 2022 – 2024 budget year in Nasarawa State, which covered 193.62km of repairs and recovery of roads.
This clearly shows the reason why citizens continue to appeal to the Federal government for continuous intervention in road infrastructure all year round.
While briefing the Minister, the Nasarawa State federal roads maintenance engineer, Mr. Aliyu Mohammed, said that the Nasarawa State Field Office prioritized interventions along major federal roads across the State, including preventive maintenance as currently championed by the MD/CEO. He said the projects also included recovery and reinstatement of distressed collapsed sections of the carriageway, shoulders, embankment, desilting and construction of adequate drainages/hydraulic structures to mitigate flooding and to preserve the road.
