Gov Fintiri Pardons 15 Prisoners

To commemorate Nigeria’s 61st Independence Anniversary celebration, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has pardoned 15 inmates serving various prison terms in different Correctional Institutions across the State

Acting on the advice of the Advisory Committee on Prerogative of Mercy, the Governor, in exercising the powers conferred on him under Section 212(i) (d) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended, commuted the remainder of the sentences of the 15 reformed prisoners.

A statement by his Director-General, Media and Communications, Solomon Kumangar said the release will take effect after all legal formalities have been concluded with the Correctional Institutions.

The fifteen (15) inmates are serving various prison terms in Numan, Yola and New Custodial Centres.

Meanwhile, activities marking the 61st Independence Anniversary will hold at the Mahmud Ribadu Square at 8:00 o’clock in the morning, on Friday, October 1, 2021.
