Gov Ganduje Dethrones Emir Sanusi of Kano

The emir who has been in a running battle with the Kano State government was dethroned by Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje over what he termed “disrespect to the office of the governor and other government agencies”.

These were contained in a statement by the Secretary to the Kano State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji that the sacking of the former Emir is with immediate effect.

The statement, which was made available to Forefront News, quoted Alhaji Usman as saying the dethroned Emir, by his actions, violated Part 3 section A-E of the Kano state law, hence his removal. 

The SSG further said that Sanusi’s removal was carried out in consultations with relevant stakeholders.

The Kano State Government said a new emir would be announced in due course to take over the throne.

The statement therefore urged the people of Kano to remain calm and go about their normal businesses.
