Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has sacked his Special Adviser on Media, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, over his sustained “unguarded comments and utterances” against President Muhammadu Buhari and All Progressives Congress (APC).

Yakasai was relieved of his appointment following what the governor deemed as utterances that conflict with the ideals of his employers, the APC government in Kano state.

A statement by the Commissioner for Information in Kano State, Mallam Muhammad Garba, who conveyed the governor’s directive on Saturday, said Yakasai’s sack is with immediate effect.

According to him, for failing to differentiate between personal opinion and official stand on matters of public concern, the aide cannot be allowed to continue serving in a government he does not believe in its policies.

Governor Ganduje also warned political appointees and public servants to “guard against making statements capable of drawing superfluous controversy.”

Consequently, Governor Ganduje reaffirmed his commitment to the policies and programmes being implemented by the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari.

The controversial media aide had on Friday dared the President and Governors to deal decisively with terrorists and bandits in the country or resign from office.

In a series of tweet on his verified twitter handle @dawisu, Yakasai said having demonstrated ineptitude in tackling the nation’s worrying security situation, the President and governors, whose states have been taken over by bandits, should throw in the towel.

He also accused the APC government of failing at all levels, especially in relations to the constitutional mandate of securing lives and property of Nigerians.

In October 2020, Yakasai was suspended but later reinstated by the governor for his ‘unguarded’ statements against the President on social media.
