Commends security agencies, Niger State Govt

BY EDMOND ODOK, ABUJA – President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed the Federal Government’s delight at the released of students abducted from the Government Science College (GSC), Kagara in Niger State on Wednesday, February 17, 2021.
He has also directed all security and intelligence agencies in the country to hunt down the culprits and bring them to justice.
A statement by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, said on Saturday that the President praised the nation’s security and intelligence agencies as well as the Niger State government for their responses in securing the students’ freedom from captivity.
The statement said; “We are happy they have been released”, even as the President also sympathized with the staff, students, their parents and friends on this ordeal.
President Buhari therefore assured the country will no longer continue to suffer attacks that threaten the growth of education, the security and life of the future leaders at the same time putting Nigeria in a bad light.
He further reiterated the advice to school owners, particularly state and local governments as well as religious organizations to scale up security around their schools in line with the standards laid down by the UN-backed Safe School Programme of the administration.
