BY CHAMBERLAIN ODEY, JOS – Plateau State Governor, Simon Bako Lalong says the 24-hour curfew imposed on Jos North local government area will remain in force till further notice to forestall crisis or reprisal attacks in the State

He said the government’s decision to maintain the restriction order is because those bent on perpetrating trouble and dragging the state into religious crisis have not abandoned their evil plans.

Speaking during an assessment tour of Jos North, Governor Lalong expressed unhappiness that compliance with the order is less than satisfactory, even as he also said the dusk-to-dawn curfew slammed on Jos South and Bassa local government areas following last Saturday’s unfortunate incident also remains in place till further notice.

Governor Lalong however blamed the new media for circulating offensive and provocative messages and videos that are more alarming than true and factual, saying the State government is working with the agents of state security to track down and apprehend the originators of such messages for prosecution.

The Governor, who vowed that the state government will do everything thing positive against plunging the state into another round of religious crises, warned “crises entrepreneurs” to decline from further efforts to cause crises on the Plateau.

He expressed confidence that things would soon return to normal with the office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) having already reinforced security in the state with a special personnel detachment led by a Deputy Inspector General.

Governor Lalong also visited some victims of last Saturday’s road attack by yet-to-be-identified hoodlums who are receiving treatment at Bingham University Teaching Hospital and Plateau Specialist Hospital.

He further commiserated with those that lost their loved ones in the unfortunate attack and promised that the State government will foot the bills of all those being treated in the various hospitals.

While the Governor was rounding up his visit to victims at the Plateau Specialist Hospital, a dead body from neighborhood malice and secret killing was brought in from the Congo-Russia axis of Jos North.

According to the grieving relatives of the deceased, that was the second casualty in a space of two hours, indicating that the curfew has not been effective with ‘bloody’ shortcomings raising its ugly head around the affected areas.
