Gov Okowa Eyes Safer Delta State

.Says kidnapping, security challenges are reducing 

Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa says efforts by Stakeholders are paying off with kidnapping, criminality, and other security challenges currently on downward trend in the State.

The Governor, who was addressing journalists on the outcome of Security Council meeting held on Thursday in Warri, said the feat is attributed to the synergy among security agencies in the state. 

According to him, “Every two weeks, we sit with security chiefs to analyze security situation in the state. But today, it was heartwarming to note that when issues of kidnapping and other security challenges came up, it was discovered that they are on downward trend in the State.”

Governor Okowa said the synergy among security agencies operating in the state, especially in the area of sharing of information, have helped a lot to ensure a peaceful state, assuring that his administration would continue to encourage the good working relationship among the agencies.

He praised traditional and other community leaders for effectively collaborating with the state government to continuously engage the youths towards ensuring sustained peace in the state.

Senator Okowa however, said activities of oil bunkerers are quite disturbing, despite several destruction of their facilities by security operatives, adding that measures have been put in place to check the illegal activities of the oil thieves.

Speaking on Ogulaghha Community and the threat to oil operation activities in the area, Governor Okowa said the issues at stake have been resolved, with the Deputy Governor, Barrister Burutu Otuaro mandated to urgently undertake advocacy visits in the area to consolidate on the resolutions reached.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Governor, Burutu Otuaro wIth heads of different security agencies in the state.
