Former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, says incumbent Governor Biodun Oyebanji will not only break his electoral record of 16-0, but greatly surpass it by winning all the 177 wards in next year’s governorship election in the State.

Fayose said his projection is based current political developments in the Ekiti, nicknamed “Land of Honour and Integrity”, noting that the submission of nomination forms in Abuja on Wednesday by Governor Oyebanji also clearly shows his political strength.

He said given the array of political bigwigs that accompanied the governor to submit his party nomination forms at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, those still hanging on false hopes should know that there is no vacancy in the Ekiti Government House until 2030.

Claiming that he is not an All Progressives Congress (APC) member, Fayose described himself as a supporter of Governor Oyebanji and President Bola Tinubu, adding that he has no apology for taking such a stand as an individual.

Further amplifying his permutations for the 2026 gubernatorial election in Ekiti State, Fayose volunteered thus, “Governor Oyebanji, submitting his party nomination form in that manner yesterday, even though an overkill, has shown where Ekiti people are.

“By the power of God, he will not only be the one to beat my electoral record of wining in the 16 Local Government Areas in the state, he will win in the entire 177 wards.

“As he has been doing, Governor Oyebanji should continue to focus on delivering good governance and dividends of democracy to the people of Ekiti till 2030.

“He should ignore those making noise about challenging. They are mere storm in a teacup.”

I’ve Divine Mandate To Break Single Term Jinx – Oyebanji

Meanwhile, Governor Biodun Oyebanji has laid claims to having a divine mandate to break the jinx of governors in the state only serving a single term and being voted out until they return to the Government House at another cycle of election.

He made this declaration after submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms to seek nomination for second term at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretariat in Abuja on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.

Accordingly, the governor solicited the support of APC’s leadership and other stakeholders to win the APC ticket and emerge victorious at next year’s governorship polls, thereby breaking that jinx.

Assuring that APC in Ekiti remains united under his leadership, he said with the party’s support to win both the primary and main election, the 2027 polls will be a walk over for President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates.
