Governor Al-makura Drops Nine Commissioners, Two Special Advisers
BY BABA AHMED, LAFIA – Governor Umaru Tanko Al-makura of Nasarawa state on Sunday approved the sacking of nine commissioners and two special advisers.
This was contained in statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Abdullahi Hassan. The statement however said six commissioners were retained but assigned to other ministries.
The sacked commissioners include Hon Abdulhamid Yakubu Kwarra formerly of Ministry of Environment & Solid Minerals; Barrister Gabriel Ortan Aka’aka – Ministry of Water Resources & Rural Development; Hon (Mrs.) Mary E. Enwongulu – Ministry of Women Affairs & Social Development; and Mr. Bamaiyi Anangba – Ministry of Youth and Sports Development.
The list also include, Dr Daniel Iya, Commissioner of Health; Malam Yusuf Shehu Usman – Ministry of Information, Culture & Tourism and Mr. Sonny Agassi – Ministry of Lands & Physical Planning.
Others include Engineer Mohammed Wada Yahaya – Ministry of Works, Housing & Transport and Hon Tanko Abdullahi Zubair who was commissioner for Commerce, Industry & Cooperative.
Affected Special Advisers are Hajarat Ibrahim Danyaro who was in charge of Gender Relations, Rehabilitation & Disability and Ado Dauda Mohammed for Community Based Relations/Conflict Resolution & Management
The retained commissioners include those of the ministry of Finance & Economic Development – Ayuba Dogara Ayinajeh, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barrister Abdulkarim A. Kana, and Alhaji Aliyu Ahmed Tijjani – Ministry for Education as well as Haruna Iliya Osegba – Ministry for Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs.
The retained commissioners include Prof Jonathan M. Ayuba of the ministry of Special Education, Science & Technology and Muhammad Jamil Zakari Ministry of Agriculture.
In the statement, the Secretary to the State Government quoted Governor A;-Makura as having expressed profound appreciation to the former members of the State Executive Council for their service to the State and wished them well in their future endeavors.
The SSG further said; “This is to enable the affected officers/persons to focus on their intentions to contest elective offices in 2019 and for others to pursue their respective professional/career goals”.
Forefront had reported that four commissioner were expected to resign their appointments to enable them pursue their 2019 political ambition
