The Kogi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has said that the party has not endorsed Governor Yahaya Bello for a second term in office owing to what it described as abysmal and woeful performance in office.

The party’s position which was stated by the State Secretary, Mr. Sala Adejoh specifically said Governor Bello’s poor performance cannot and will not be rewarded with a second term.

Adejoh explained that the party will not be endorsing any candidate in the race for governor, stressing that the the Kogi State APC governorship ticket is open to every interested and qualified party aspirant.

In the words of Adejoh; “We did not endorse anyone and we are not planning to. The party’s ticket is open to everyone in the party.

Governor Bello is fighting tooth and nail to get the APC ticket for a second term against stiff opposition from within and outside the party bent on seeing his exit owing largely to what they described as poor performance and heavy debt overhang on the state during his administration.

Some traditional rulers from the state were cajoled last week to visit President Muhammadu Buhari to drum support for the embattled governor but were politely told to allow the people of the state to decide.

It was gathered that since the visit which turned out not to have achieved its intended motive, Governor Bello has become so troubled and running helter skater to mend fences even with those he had classified as enemies. One of his major hurdles he is facing is on how to deal and win back members of the State Working Committee of the APC which he refused to recognised and relate with as expected of a governor.
