As the leadership crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), continues to fester, the remaining two Governors left on the platform of the Party, have openly disagreed on the modus operandi to be adopted towards moving forward ahead of the 2027 general elections.

While Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State declared that the genuine members of the Party are not calling for any form of reconciliation with the group led by the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, regarding the PDP, Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State on the other hand vehemently disagreed with him, saying that reconciliation was midwifed by Court of Appeal, and as law abiding citizens and politicians, who believe in the rule of law, reconciliation is the right way to go.

Makinde insisted that the Turaki-led PDP members will survive the challenges and participate effectively in the 2027 general elections.

However, in what appeared a spontaneous counter, Governor Mohammed said the remarks expressed by his brother Makinde, remains his personal opinion, stressing that there is no irreconcilable issues in Nigeria, especially in the political or national space.

Governor Makinde, who was responding to questions from journalists, also declared that supporters and members of the Wike-led faction of the PDP are working against Nigerians, thus they are enemies of democracy.

Makinde, who was in Bauchi on a Sallah homage to his Bauchi State counterpart, Governor Bala Mohammed at the Ramat House, Bauchi, on Sunday, Marchi 22, 2026, explained that he had earlier revealed publicly that he attended a meeting with Wike and President Bola Tinubu, during which the FCT minister promised to hold the PDP for the President for the 2027 presidential election.

Makinde, who was in company of former governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Seriake Dickson and other prominent politicians, pointedly declared that anyone dealing with Wike and his group in any guise, means that they have also agreed to support President Tinubu for 2027.

He further said; “We will leave it for Nigerians to judge. If you can be in their camp where they promised that they are supporting the President, we are not begrudging them.

“You can support whoever you like to support, but go to them if you want to support them. So, that is our position. “They have the government behind them. They have the judiciary behind them. They have INEC behind them, but we have the people behind us,” Makinde stated.
