Governor Ortom Escapes Death As Gunmen Attack His Convoy
Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State on Saturday narrowly escaped death as gunmen suspected to be Fulani militia laid ambush and attacked his convoy.
The incident which occurred at Tyo-Mu in Makurdi Local Government Area, along the Makurdi-Gboko road, witnessed rain of bullets pumped at the vehicle of the Governor Ortom.
Forefront News however gathered that the governor was not hurt even as he expressed surprise over the attack.
The Tyo-Mu community is located on the outskirts of Makurdi town, and a government official said the convoy was on its way back to Makurdi, the State capital when the incident occurred.
The official however confirmed that security personnel attached to the governor were on hand to successfully repelled the attack.
Though information on the attack were still sketchy as at the time of filling this report, Governor Ortom, said to still be in shock over the incident, was expected to address the media on the ugly development.
