Group Hails Showunmi’s Move To Unite Ogun PDP
- Describes him true nation builder
BY EDMOND ODOK – A politically conscious group, the Nation Builders and Reformers Organization (NBRO) has applauded recent efforts of Otunba Segun Showunmi to unite and reposition the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun state for electoral victory.
According to the group, Showunmi has indeed proven himself to be a true leader and unifier whose major concern is the unity and progress of the State and the opposition party.
Speaking through its Coordinator Magnus Oku and Secretary, Linda Ohamara, NBRO said by his amiable disposition, Showunmi has not only worked to establish a friendly atmosphere within the party, but also bring the party together across the state level towards winning the 2023 general elections.
The group further noted that Otunba Showunmi, in the true spirit of statesmanship and the interest of the masses at heart, has made several calls and visits to ensure the party is indeed united for the common goal of capturing the Ogun State governorship seat come 2023 polls.
The former spokesperson for the Atiku Abubakar Presidential Campaign Organisation in 2019, recently undertook reconciliation and peace-building visits to elder statesmen, and party stakeholders, including the factional PDP candidate in Ogun state, as part of efforts to address issues of concern, heal existing wounds and unite all stakeholders in the State chapter of PDP.
Simply, his message was that of common drive to propel all aggrieved persons to bury the hatch, regardless of interest, and work for the overall good and success of the party come 2023.
With controversies arising from the PDP gubernatorial primaries, the rift within the party at all levels in the state left many party stalwarts and supporters confused even after a court judgement had gone in favour of Showunmi, also described as the factional PDP Governorship Candidate in Ogun by the media.
Unfortunately, the disaffection among party members further grew as the other contestants refused to honour and abide by the Court ruling that gave victory to Otunba Showunmi.
