Gunmen Attack Atiku’s Convoy In Borno
- Injure many, vandalise campaign vehicles
Political hooliganism was displayed at its peak on Wednesday in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital when some unidentified gunmen attacked the convoy of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
This was evident in a trending video in which a group of people were seen scampering in different directions as the gunmen shot sporadically at the convoy of the PDP standard bearer who was in Maiduguri for the Party’s rally.
Forefront gathered that several vehicles in the Atiku’s convoy at Ramat Square, Maiduguri were hit and vandalized by the hooligans’ bullets and other weapons.
Commenting on the ugly and unfortunate development, Spokesman of the Atiku Campaign Council, Senator Dino Malaye, alleged that the attack on the PDP was sponsored by the ruling Party in Borno State, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to Melaye; “The attacked is the handiwork of the ruling Party in Borno State who do not want us to hold our our campaign for obvious reasons.
“More than 70 people were badly injured and presently hospitalised. As we speak, 74 people were injured and hospitalised.
“Several vehicles were vandalised by APC thugs. The APC wanted to prevent us from holding our campaign,” he said.
However, the ruling APC in Borno State is yet to react to the development as at the time of filing this report.
