Gunmen Attack Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Family Home
The family house of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan located in Obeiba-Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, came under attack on Tuesday, April 16, by armed men.
The attack by the gunmen, which took place at about 1:00 am, left some windows and doors of the family residence damaged but with no injury was recorded.
Close sources said the attackers, who stormed the house suddenly, were heavily armed with cutlasses and guns. In the process, they smashed windows as well as damage parts of the building, thereby causing panic within the area.
However, reports indicated that Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan’s Chief Security Officer (CSO), Yakubu Ovanja, moved quickly and got the appropriate security agencies informed.
Accordingly, officers and men of the Okehi Police Division acted fast by rushing to the scene to confront the attackers.
It was gathered that before the Police could arrive the scene, the armed men had already vacated the premises and avoided being apprehended by the security operatives.
Though no suspect was arrested at the scene, the Police claimed that efforts are being intensified to arrest the culprits and bring them book.
Competent sources said the Police Operatives who visited the crime scene also took records of the extent of the damage and have already launched preliminary investigation to unravel the cause and those behind the unprovoked attack on the Senator’s residence.
The reason for the attack was yet to be known even as the police are working to unravel what must have motivated the attackers and their possible sponsors, if any.
Meanwhile, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan is yet to speak or release any official statement on the unfortunate incident.
