It is certainly not the best of times for the Chief of Mutumbiyu in Taraba State, Justice Sani Muhammed (rtd), as unknown gunmen abducted his two wives and six children in the early hours of Thursday, January 19, 2023.

Reports said the gunmen, suspected to be kidnappers, invaded the royal father’s residence in Jalingo early on Thursday morning and whisked away the eight family members to an unknown destination.

According to family sources, the royal father, who is a second-class chief, was not in his Jalingo residence at the time of the incident but it was gathered that the kidnappers have already contacted him and demanded he open discussions with them on the release of his abducted family members.

The Taraba State Police Command’s spokesperson, DSP Usman Abdullahi, while confirming the incident, said; “Two wives and six children of the Chief of Mutumbiyu were abducted at about 1 am Thursday and efforts are being made to rescue them” without any casualty.
