Former Anambra State Governor and 2027 presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, was on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, reportedly shot at by gunmen in Benin City, the Edo State capital.
It was gathered that Obi, who is a chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), was oh his way to the residence of former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief John Oyegun, when his convoy came under sporadic gun shots.
However, while vehicles in the convoy sustained damage, including shattered windshields and tyres, Obi was reported to have escaped unharmed.
The identity of the attackers and the motive behind the shooting remained unknown.
