BY OUR CORRESPONDENT – Gunmen terrorizing the Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State have burnt to death a family of nine and killed two others in a deadly invasion that took place in the community on Tuesday night

Confirming the unfortunate incident, a Youth Leader in the area, Mr Marshal Sule, said the killings took place in the Maikatako community of the local government when a group of terrorists perceived to be on a revenge mission swooped on the locality.

Sule explained that the invaders arrived on motorcycles at about 11:00 p.m and set fire to a house where a family of nine lived and ensured that they were all roasted alive, adding that they also shot dead two persons while leaving the community.

The Youth Leader disclosed that the incident came on the heels of a previous attack in which a vigilante was killed by the group suspected to be Fulani militias on Monday and in retaliation, the community youths mobilized for a counterattack, killing two of the attackers in the process.

According to him; “They, however, threatened to retaliate and eventually stormed Maikatako on Tuesday, where eleven people were brutally killed. The incident has been reported to the security agencies for prompt action”.

However, Sule pleaded with the Community youths to remain calm, expressing the hope that the security agencies would promptly handle the matter to avoid further escalation of the killings.

Meanwhile, the Plateau State Police Command spokesperson, DSP. Alfred Alabo, said the police are currently going after the assailants to ensure the culprits are brought to book.

DSP Alabo assured that officers of the Command are on top of the situation as directed by the State Commissioner of Police.
