Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, on Sunday, February 2, 2025, at Ibadan, the Oyo State capital took a critical look at the leadership crisis that has engulfed the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying that the opposition party will emerge stronger and better organised.
Lawal, who was in Oyo State on a condolence visit to Governor Seyi Makinde over the death of his elder brother, late Sunday Makinde, noted that politics is fraught with challenges, conflicts and resolutions.
In his words; “There is nothing fundamentally wrong with the PDP. The current crisis is a natural occurrence that is also seen in other parties as well. It is simply part of the political landscape.
“However, the events that took place in Delta State just two days ago, highlight that we are actively working to reconnect with the people and regain leadership in this country.
“As governors, we are the leaders of the party, the PDP and our voices carry weight. Whatever we decide will guide our actions.
“This situation will ultimately strengthen us, as it provides an opportunity to learn from our mistakes. I can tell you that it is a valuable learning process. We shall come out stronger and indeed better,” he said.
Commenting on his visit to Governor Makinde, Governor Lawal said the Oyo State Governor is his close and dear friend, adding that it was his duty to extend condolences to him and his family during this difficult time.
He said; “I am here with my team. Death is an inevitable part of life, and we come to offer comfort and solidarity during this trying moment”.
