How Sowore’s #ReviolutionNow Sneaked Into Dunamis Church And Staged #BuhariMustGo Protest
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO, ABUJA – There were no signs that Sunday July 4, 2021 would turn into a day of #BuhariMustGo protest as numerous worshippers thronged the Dunamis Gospel Centre to attend service. Unknown to many others, including the leaders of the Church, there was a hidden plan by the #RevolutionNow group, headed by Omoyele Sowore, to stage a protest.
According to an eyewitness that craved anonymity, after the preaching session, the Senior Pastor, Dr Paul Enenche, welcomed new members and requested those willing to give their lives to Christ to come forward to the altar.
“Many, of course, in response to the preaching walked to the altar to be prayed for. None of the #RevolutionNow members wore their jerseys to the altar. There is no way Pastor Enenche would pray for #BuhariMustGo protesters, knowing fully well that the Church is not a political platform.
“Few minutes later, the exit door of the auditorium became a sight of commotion as members of the #RevolutionNow uncovered their jerseys and began streaming online what would later be described as #BuhariMustGo protest taking place in Dunamis Church.
The source said that the Dunamis Church did not order any official of the Department of State Service (DSS) to arrest any official. Much as the protest was illegal and did not have the approval of the Church, the eyewitness disclosed that the DSS officials on routine duties arrested the protesters in order to maintain peace.

“Much as the Church believes in freedom and justice, the group who organised the #BuhariMustGo did not carry the management of the Church along, and that even if it had done so, Dunamis Gospel Centre would not have granted such a permit as it carried some political undertones that are clearly contrary to the objectives of the Church,” said the source.
The Dunamis Church, the source added, is known for its strong advocacy history that has become a reliably constant voice for justice and equity for all Nigerian citizens and humanity. This advocacy, the source continued, has always been hinged on the need for national harmony that engenders the emergence of a violence-free society.
The Dunamis Gospel Centre
Another source added, “The current attempt at staging such an illegal protest in the premises of the Dunamis Gospel Centre is aimed at dragging the church into partisanship.”
To demonstrate that the protest was well coordinated, screenshots on the protest by Sowore’s on his Facebook wall clearly lends credence to the view that the protest was well coordinated.
