Hunger: NLC To Commence Nationwide Strike Next Week Wednesday

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has issued a seven-day ultimatum to the Federal Government a seven-day to reverse all its anti-people economic policies or risked an indefinite nationwide strike.

The decisions of the NLC, it was gathered were reached at the meeting of its Central Working Committee (CWC), which held on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at the Labour House, Abuja.

It has therefore fixed August 2 for the commencement of the strike if the demands are not addressed and remained unsettled.

The anti-people economic policies according to the NLC, include the recent hike in the pump price of petrol.

The NLC noted that the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led government policies have stifled the poor and made life become unbearable for the people.

Towards this end, the NLC has directed all of its affiliates and state Councils to immediately commence the mobilization of workers and other Nigerians, including Civil Society Organisations for mass allies.

It warned that the mass protests would be a long-lasting strike should the government fail to meet its demands of immediate reversal of the obnoxious policies on or before August 2, 2023.
