HURIWA To President Buhari: Work With Col. Dangiwa Umar’s Advise
…Says sycophantic aides will destroy his legacies
BY GRACE ANYANWU, ABUJA – Civil Rights Advocacy group – Human Rights Writers Association (HURIWA) has said that the major crisis of mutual distrust which weighs heavily against national harmony is as a result of cumulative angst generated by the consistent marginalization of most segments of the society by the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.
HURIWA noted that the areas mostly affected included allocation of resources and appointments since five years ago that the Buhari administration came on board.
It therefore urged President Muhammadu Buhari to listen to the voice of God spoken through Colonel Abubakar Dangiwa Umar (rtd) in which he asked Buhari to be the President for all and make his appointments to reflect Federal Character Principle as provided for in Section (14 (3) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria of 1999 as amended section.
HURIWA particularly said that the president needs to urgently amend his leadership style in line with the sound and qualitative counselling that was offered him on a platter of gold by Col, Dangiwa Umar (rtd).
The Human Rights Association noted that President Buhari has tolerated the reign of unprincipled political urchins and sycophants, who are all over the corridors of power, adding that these set of hireling working for the Presidency have not allowed him to listen to the voice of the people which is also the voice of God.
These were contained in a statement by HURIWA National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and National Media Affairs Director, Miss Zainab Yusuf, in which they noted that it is imperative that President Buhari, who retired as a consummate military General and has had the fortune to serve as the military Head of State and again, the opportunity of a life time to be elected twice by Nigerians as President, should call his attack dogs and sycophants to order to stop barking after perceived opponents.
HURIWA instead urged Buhari to take an introspective look at the qualitative and credible body of advice that was offered him by his kinsman and brother Col. Umar (rtd).
It further said; “We urge the President not to be deceived continuously by the bunch of never -do- wells jobbers that are all over the place in the corridors of power but should be guided in wisdom to take the good aspects of the words of wisdom given to him by the retired military officer, who has made a remarkable name for himself to be incorruptible and patriotic.”
HURIWA quoted Colonel Umar as affirming to President Muhammadu Buhari thus: “I counselled the declared winner, your good self, to use the opportunity of your second term to redeem your pledge of being a leader and president of all Nigerians.
“Mr. President, you have often expressed the hope that history will be kind to you. It is within your competence to write that history. But you have less than three years in which to do it. You may wish to note that any authentic history must be devoid of myth. It will be a true, factual rendition of the record of your performance.”
HURIWA noted that the former military governor of Kaduna State had rightly stated that; “Skewed appointments into the offices of the Federal Government favouring some and frustrating others, shall bring ruin and destruction to this nation.”
It said that it is factually accurate that going by the texture of appointments into juicy positions of the Federal Government, all have been allotted to the nominees of the President from the Moslem North just as the bulk of Christians from the North and Southern Nigeria have been relegated to the background.
The Rights group also noted that the president letter to the National Assembly requesting approval for his government’s plan to borrow $27.3 billion deliberately excluded the South East and Edo State from benefiting from the projects that would be executed with the loans.
HURIWA further said that there is no Igbo military officer heading any of the arms of the Armed forces, adding that there are over 2000 key appointments that President Buhari has made which are majorly skewed towards the Muslim Northerners from Hausa/Fulani ethnic group.
