I’m Still PDP Govs’ Forum Chairman – Tambuwal
- Says his purported resignation is fake news
BY VICTOR BUORO – Governor of Sokoto State, Alhaji Waziri Tambuwal, says he still remains the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum and his purported resignation from the position is fake news.
Reports had made the rounds that Governor Tambuwal threw in the towel at the PDP National Executive Committee (NEC) Board meeting held in Abuja on Thursday.
But dismissing the reports, the Director General of the Forum, CID Maduabum, said the former Speaker of the House of Representatives has not resigned as the Forum’s Chairman.
In a statement issued on Friday, Maduabum said; “This is to inform the general public and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party, that the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party Governors Forum (PDP-GF), Rt Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has not resigned as Chairman of the Forum contrary to some media reports.”
The statement made available to newsmen further stated that; “Members of the PDP GOVERNORS FORUM are working behind the scenes to resolve all contending issues concerning the Party. To this end, a meeting of the Forum will soon be convened”.
In a related development, the party’s Board of Trustees Chairman, Senator Wali Jibrin, voluntarily stepped down at the PDP’s NEC on Thursday, and was immediately replaced with former Senate President, Adolphus Wabara.
