Officers of the Kebbi State Hisbah Board (KSHB), an agency under the State Ministry of Religious Affairs, have apprehended a married woman and five others in a targeted hotel raid for alleged immoral conduct.
Reports indicated that those arrested included three men and three women with the Director of Shariah at KSHB, Sirajo Kamba, confirming the operation was aimed at enforcing societal moral standards across the North west state.
In a statement issued to journalists in Birnin Kebbi, the State capital on Friday, Kamba said the raid was prompted by intelligence gathered by the agency.

The statement said: “On May 14, the Kebbi Hisbah Board carried out a raid at a hotel located behind the Presidential Lodge, where three men and three women were found engaging in immoral acts.
“Following reports from members of the public, Hisbah officials stormed the location and arrested the individuals involved. Investigations are ongoing, and necessary action will be taken in accordance with the law and the board’s regulations.”
Kamba, while noting that investigations revealed one of the women was married, said: “This underscores the need for stronger moral upbringing and fear of God in the society.”
The Director of Shariah challenged parents and guardians to keep a vigilant eye on their children’s daily movements and digital activities, fostering a safe environment that protects them from falling into behaviors detrimental to community standards and personal integrity.
