BY AMOS TAUNA, KADUNA – An aspirant vying for the position of the National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Ahmad Lawan, has declared that the imposition of Arch Waziri Bulama by the National Chairman of the Party, Comrade Adams Oshiomole is tearing the party apart.

Lawan said the APC National Working Committee (NWC), took a lopsided decision that’s causing disharmony among party faithful and therefore called on the NWC of the party to be wary of taking any decision that is capable of disuniting the members of the party.

He stressed that lack of internal democracy led to the present comatose state of the PDP struggling to survive the consequence because it played out bad against them.

The Adamawa APC stalwart noted that a well structured process of elections should be put in place to fill the vacant office, adding that alternatively, wide consultations should be carried out to reach a consensus for the selection of a new National Secretary for the Party and not through anti-democratic means.

He faulted the NWC for appointing a different person outside the NWC on acting capacity, saying that the Assistant National Secretary should have occupied the office since he is a member of the NWC.

Lawan further said; “I am a candidate vying for this post and I need to be consulted before a decision of this magnitude is taken. All of us in the entire North East whose slot of the office is for the zone should decide with the NWC of who becomes the next party National Secretary.

”Moreover, I don’t think Bulama is capable of holding that office hence his imposition is dividing us more in the party than uniting us. His coming is bringing in serious crisis than ever.”

Lawan urged party stakeholders to mediate on the matter in order not to plunder the party into a more disastrous 2023 when it will finally ship wrecked.

Similarly, the National Vice Chairman of the APC -North East, Comrade Salihu Mustapha, accused the APC National Chairman of endangering the party with uninformed decision by the announcement of Arch Waziri Bulama as the Acting Secretary.

He said some of the actions taken by the National Chairman are oblivious and unmindful of party internal democracy where consultation and consensus are at the central stage of the APC’s manifestoes.
