In Power, Labour Party Will Avoid Strike Like Plague ― Peter Obi
The Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi on Wednesday assured Nigerians that his emergence as elected president in 2023 would signal final goodbye strikes, especially by University lecturers, in the country.
Obi, who lamented that the 50 months of ASUU strike in Nigeria since 1999 was a disaster against actualizing a productive Nation through intellects, said the Labour Party administration would do everything possible to avoid industrial actions in the country like plague.
Addressing Party supporters at Joly Nyame stadium in Jalingo, Taraba State, the former Anambra State Governor said there would be no more ASUU strikes in Nigeria while his administration would also work hard towards transforming Taraba State into an economic hub and a tourist attraction for Nigeria through its untapped mineral resources.
He said; “What I and Dati want to do for Nigeria is to ensure that we move from consumption to production and there would be no more University ASUU strikes. The 50 months of the ASUU strike in Nigeria is a setback for both the development of Nigeria and our Educational system.
“I will make Taraba an economic hub and a tourist centre for Nigeria. The untapped mineral resources here and the Mambila hydro are enough to transform the economy of the country and create job opportunities for Nigerian youth.”
On how to improve the current security situation in the country, the LP Standard bearer maintained that; “The insecurity is persisting in the country due to the lack of job opportunities. I will bring Nigeria to her days of greatness and make the citizens smile.”
Speaking earlier in their welcome remarks, the Taraba State chairperson of the Labour Party, Mrs Esther Gulmu, and the Party governorship flag bearer, Hon. Joel Ikenya assured Tarabans that real-time for true democracy was to support and vote for Peter Obi as well as all other labour party candidates in the 2023 polls for the good governance that Nigerians deserve going forward.
