INEC Declares Governor el-Rufai Winner Of Kaduna Governorship Poll
BY AMOS TAUNA, KADUNA – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has declared Governor Nasiru el-Rufai as the Governor-elect in the March 9, Governorship elections.
Governor el-Rufai, who contested on the platform of All Progressive Congress (APC) polled 1,045,467 to defeat the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Isa Mohammed Ashiru who polled 814,167.
INEC Returning officer, Prof Mohammed Yahuza Bello, said the APC gubernatorial candidate, Nasiru Ahmed El-Rufai met the required electoral conditions and declared him elected governor in the 2019 gubernatorial election in Kaduna state.
A study of the results from the 23 Local Government Areas of the state collated at the INEC headquarters in Kaduna showed that Governor el-Rufai of the APC won in 14 Local Government Areas.
The Local Government Areas he won include Makarfi, Soba, Kudan, Ikara, Kauru, Kubau, Kaduna North, Giwa, Birnin Gwari, Sabongari, Lere, Kaduna South, Zaria and Igabi.
Similarly, the gubernatorial candidate of the PDP, Hon Ashiru won in nine Local Government Areas of the state that Jaba, Kachia, Kaura, Kajuru, Zango Kataf, Sanga, Chikun and Jema’a.
