A pan-Igbo cultural and socio-political group, the Ndigbo Unity Forum (NUF), has congratulated President Muhammadu Buhari, on his re-election for a second term in office.

Among one of the frontline Igbo groups that threw their weight behind the President’s re-election bid, the NUF said that Nigerians have spoken at the polls and it is important for all well-meaning citizens to respect the verdict.

In a congratulatory message by its President, Mr Augustine Chukwudum, who spoke to NAN in Enugu, the Forum urged Nigerians to remain calm as the Next Level train would bring smiles to the faces of everyone.

He said Nigerians deserved great applause for coming out en mass to vote in the presidential and National Assembly elections on February 23, 2019.

Chukwudum further said; “My appeal to every Nigerian now is for us to remain calm as the winner has been declared by INEC”, adding; “Any party that does not accept the result should approach to court.”

According to him, “There is no need for violence in any form under any guise.”

President Buhari, as the All Progressives Congress (APC)’s flag-bearer in the race was on Wednesday declared re-elected by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), having polled 15,191,847 votes to emerge the winner.

Amassing majority votes in 19 states, President Buhari defeated other 72 candidates, including his fiercest rival, Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 11, 255,978 votes, winning in 17 states and the FCT, to place second in the presidential race. –NAN
