Insecurity, Power, Economy: President Buhari Summons Imo Governor, Power Minister, Economic Adviser

Following the insecurity situation in Imo State, the poor and epileptic power supply being experienced in the country as well as the state of the economy, President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday summoned and met with Governor Hope Uzodinma, the Minister of Power, Abubakar Aliyu, and the Chief Economic Adviser, Prof Doyin Salami individually at the Presidential Villa.

The outcome of the President’s meeting with the trio which took place in the afternoon is yet to be made public as at the time of this report.

However, a statement by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu said the meeting is to afford the Commander-in-Chief the opportunity to apprise the latest developments in Imo State, the power sector and the state of the economy.

Buhari while condemning the spate of violence in Imo State in the aftermath of the destruction of buildings and assets of the Police and the home of Prof. George Obiozor, President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, pledged to review the security situation in southeast Nigeria.

The President had also voiced his concern over the frequent power outages and apologized to Nigerians as well as assured a quick relief to the situation.
