Insurgency: Combine Power With Action To Combat Terrorists – Buratai Charges Army

Given its determination to win the war against insurgency particularly in the North-East geo-political zone, the Nigerian Army has procured more fighting machines including war tanks for its Armored Corps called VT4 MBT and ST1 light tanks.

Speaking at the official testing of the equipment at the Geji firing range in Bauchi, the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-General Tukur Buratai charged soldiers in the country to combine the fire power provided them in form of weapons and operational vehicles with action to combat the insurgents, who have continued to be threat to life in parts of the war torn North-East.

Buratai said the newly acquired weapons and training will enable the officers exterminate Boko Haram remnants in the region.

The COAS charged the soldiers saying; “If you go to the field, you must be decisive. You must deal with them when you combine fire power mobility and shock action. The adversaries have no option than to be dealt with accordingly”.

Buratai said that coming from Borno and Yobe states to visit officers under the ‘Operation Lafiya Dole’, added that he expects the Armoured Corps in Bauchi to mobilize to the two states with the purchased vehicles to go and round up the fight against insurgency.

He promised that advanced training will be organised for officers from the Electrical and Mechanical units of the Army so that they could maintain the vehicles properly particularly during operation at the war front.

Commander, Armoured Corps, Nigerian Army, Bauchi, Major General MH Magaji said that they complied with the directives from the Army headquarters by assembling personnel from different Army formations and units for trainings.

Magaji appealed to the Chief of Army Staff to construct an access road to the firing range to facilitate easy movements of officers and huge equipment during exercises.

He assured that with the Armoured fighting vehicles procured and tested, the Corps would make Nigeria proud in the course of fighting insurgents in the nation.
