BY AMOS DUNIA, ABUJA – A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Thursday dismissed the application filed by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in which it urged the court to reverse the order proscribing the organisation.
IPOB had prayed the Court to set aside the order that designated it a terrorist organisation.
The Court, presided over by the Acting Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Abdu Kafarati in his ruling, noted that an organisation registered abroad could be likened to a foreigner who could be arrested in another country where he was found to have committed a crime.
The trial judge therefore gave a judicial pronouncement and endorsement to the executive order of President Muhammadu Buhari, outlawing IPOB and its activities in the country.
Justice Kafarati awarded the sum of N500 as cost against IPOB.
