  • Knocks Out Wallin in round five

Former Two-time World heavyweight Boxing Champion, Anthony Joshua announced that he is back minutes after knocking out Swedish fighter, Otto Wallin in the “Day of Reckoning” main event held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The TKO victory is Joshua’s third straight ring success story of 2023 following consecutive wins over Jermaine Franklin in April and a seventh-round knockout of Robert Helenius in August.

Joshua cruised to a fifth-round technical knockout win over Wallin, who had been expected to be a formidable opponent, especially with his southpaw stance.

Wallin’s only defeat before losing to Joshua on Saturday night came in 2019 against Tyson Fury, whom he fought in between the Gypsy King’s first and second meetings with Deontay Wilder.

Though the bout saw Fury winning by unanimous decision, the Swedish heavyweight certainly gave a good account of himself, making it a very tough night for the Briton than many boxing pundits expected.

With this latest showing, Joshua now holds a record of 27 victories and three losses, with 24 knockout wins.

On the night, Wallin’s bleeding from eye and nose led his Manager, Joey Garnache, to throw in the towel and stop the fighter from further battering by the British-born Nigerian pugilist.

Most watchers of the fight acknowledged that it was another impressive performance from the two-time heavyweight champion, who told his former rival Andy Ruiz after the fight, “I’m back, I’m back.”

Meanwhile, in the fight preceding the Anthony Joshua’s bout, former World Champion, Deontay Wilder lost to another former WBO heavyweight world champion Joseph Parker by unanimous decision.
