It’s Now February Date For Edo 2021

BY EDMOND ODOK – With hopes of not breaching the Coronavirus (COVID-19) protocols set at all time high, the 2021 National Sports Festival tagged ‘Edo 2021’ is now scheduled to hold from February 14 to 28, 2021 in Benin City, the Edo State capital.

The National Council of Sports (NCS) confirmed the new dates on Tuesday, October 15, 2020 during a virtual meeting that had in attendance the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr Sunday Dare.

Also participating at the meeting was Deputy Governor of Edo State, Phillips Shuaibu, who is Chairman of the games’ Local Organising Committee (LOC).

Other stakeholders at the gathering were Commissioner of Sports and Director of Sports in all 36 states of the federation as well as Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to the meeting’s communique, the NCS reportedly reached the decision to hold the multi-sports carnival in February 2021 following the several postponements suffered by the festival due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
