It’s Now Official, Guinness World Records Endorse Hilda Baci’s Feat
- As longest cooking marathon record holder
- Approves only 93 hours 11 minutes
- Cuts off seven hours for break time error
The wait is finally over for Nigerians with the Guinness World Records (GWR) officially acknowledging Hilda Baci as the new record holder for the longest individual cooking.
A statement on the GWR website on Tuesday stated thus; “Following a thorough review of all the evidence, Guinness World Records can now confirm that Hilda Effiong Bassey, better known as Hilda Baci, has officially broken the record for the longest cooking marathon (individual), with a time of 93 hours 11 minutes”.
Baci’s initial attempt was to set a record of 100 hours of cooking. However, about seven hours were deducted from her final total because she mistakenly took extra minutes for one of her rest breaks early on in the competition.
The 26-year-old indigene of Akwa Ibom State set out to break the record on Thursday, 11th May 2023 and continued through to Monday, 15th May, 2023, cooking over 100 pots of food during her four-day kitchen stint.
Born on September 20, 1996, she is a Nigerian chef, restaurateur, actress, and the current holder of the Guinness World Record for marathon cooking (Cook-athon).
It is on record that in August 2021, she won the Jollof Faceoff competition.
