State House reporters from various media outlets were on Sunday barred from the official residence of President Muhammadu Buhari in Aso Presidential Villa as he received no fewer than 82 Chibok school girls released by Boko Haram militants on Saturday.
The girls had arrived Abuja earlier in the day from Maiduguri, Borno state capital, in choppers flown by officers of the Nigerian Air Force.
The freed girls after the reception by Buhari later underwent medical check-ups at the Department of State Services (DSS) clinic.
Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari, told Channels Television that the president was “extremely pleased and glad” over their release.
“Since the first set of girls was released last year, he gave instructions to all security agencies to leave no stone unturned until all the girls are released,” he said.
