Julius Berger Wins Another Engineering Construction Company Of The Decade Award
BY SEGUN ADEBAYO – Nigeria’s construction giant, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc last Friday in Lagos added another feather to its colorful corporate hat of meritorious awards as it clinched the Engineering Construction Company of the Decade award.
The event which took place at a well-attended 8th Nigeria Annual Transport Lecture, Exhibitions and Awards held at Lagos Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja, Lagos was organized by TransportDay, a frontline specialist newspaper.
Speaking at the event, publisher of TransportDay, Mr. Frank Kintum said that the award ceremony is “an annual event designed to acknowledge and honour individuals, organisations and governments that have positively impacted on the people and community in significantly positive measure.”
In the words of Kintum; “For Julius Berger, for over a decade, we have keenly followed the operations of the company, and we have observed that this company has so positively impacted on lives and living in Nigeria through the company’s core engineering construction work as well as through its uncommon and helpful CSR activities nationwide.
“Therefore, to ignore recognising and honouring such an organisation would have been some form of unfairness and injustice. This award is our own serious way of saying thank you Julius Berger for standing up for the Nigerian citizens’ and communities’ well being, progress and real development.”
Both Mr. Kintum and Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) Public Education Officer, Assistant Corp Marshal Adebisi Kazeem presented the award to the representative of the Managing Director, Group Head, Media Relations, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, Prince Moses Duku in Lagos.
While receiving the award, Prince Duku thanked the organizers for the recognition accorded Julius Berger, saying that the company remains committed the country’s progressive development.
At the lecture that preceded the Awards session, Corp Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corp, FRSC, Dr. Boboye Oyeyemi, Chairman, Governing Council, Nigerian Institute of Transport Technology, Olorogun John Onojeharho, National President, Association of Nigerian Licenced Customs Agents, Hon. Tony Nwabuike and Coordinator, SMEDAN Lagos, Adefunke Bashir were among dignitaries that graced the colourful occasion.
