Armed bandits in military uniforms on Tuesday night stormed Government Science College (GSC), Kagara in Rafi Local Government of Niger State and abducted a large number of students.
One of the students was believed to have been killed by the bandits that overpowered security men in the school before taking away the students whose number is yet to be ascertained.
It was also gathered that some members of staff and their families living within the school premises were also abducted by the bandits.
A headcount is being conducted at the school in the early hours of Wednesday to ascertain the total number of students and staff that were abducted.
Forefront gathered that some of the students managed to escape after the raid.
A staff of Government House in Minna, who spoke to Forefront on condition of anonymity said that security agencies have set in motion plans to rescue the students and staff as they (security) have been able to establish, detect the coordination and nature of the area thereby making it easy to trace the movement of the bandits.
He further said that already, the Nigerian Air Force aircrafts have commences hovering in the air with a view to track route and location of the abducted students.
