BY AHMED TUKUR, LAFIA – The Majority Leader of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly (NSHA), Hon. Tanko Umar Tunga has appealled to Governor Abdullahi Sule to link his constituency Awe-Tunga through Bakin Abu bridge in Awe Local Government to Makurdi, the Benue state capital.
Speaking to Forefront when Governor Sule visited his area, Hon. Tunga appealed to Governor Sule to construct a bridge which he said will create more wealth and add economic value to the people.
Tunga, who represents Awe-Tunga constituency in the State House of Assembly, said that the people of the area are facing severe hardship especially during the rainy season and needed the assistance of the state government.
The lawmaker explained that the river has stopped people of the area who are mainly farmers from getting their goods to the market in neighbouring Guma Local Government Area of Benue state and Makurdi, the state capital.
Tinga further said; “Constructing the bridge will create more economic activities between the two states, reduce hardship faced by farmers and also bring about a more harmonious relationship”.
He added that the bridge has been included in the budget every year in the last six years but yet to be actualized thus appealed to Governor Sule to assist the community in ensuring that the project sees the light of the day.
Earlier, Governor Sule, who was on official assignment to Awe promised to look into the matter and see what his administration can do.
