BY AHMED TUKUR, LAFIA – A National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member serving at the Isah Mustapha Aqwai Polytechnic, Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital has tested positive to COVID-19.

The Corps member who is serving as a nurse in the Polytechnic Health Care Clinic is believed to have contacted the virus while at the NYSC camp, Keffi where she was assigned to assist in educating Corps members as a senior medical professional.
The affected Corps member is however alleged to have broken protocol and returned to her place of primary assignment in Lafia and continued with her work.
She was reported to the State Ministry of Health afterwards before she was taken into isolation while all members of staff, who had primary contact with her have been isolated and their samples taken for test.
When our correspondent visited the Clinic, it was under lock and key while the security men at the gate were seen wearing face masks.
Confirming the development, the state director of Public Health, Dr Alhassan Ibrahim, said that all the staff of the clinic have been isolated and the results of their tests are being awaited.
Dr Ibrahim added that about five other Corps members tested positive in the camp and were isolated at the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi.
