Kaduna-Abuja Train Derails At Jere, Leaving Passengers Stranded
An Abuja bound Train that departed Rigasa Train Station, Kaduna, on Sunday, May 26, 2024 derailed in the mountainous area near Jere, in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The unfortunate development initially caused serious panic amongst passengers that hitherto thought it was another attack by terrorists even as they were later assured by security personnel attached to the coaches that jumped off the train and carried out security survey of the area.

A passenger on board one of the coaches, told Forefront News on telephone that the Train with many passengers on board left Kaduna at about 8:00 am but after about an hour, a loud noise was heard and was immediately followed by vibration which caused panic.
The passenger who does not want his name in print, said it was later discovered that three of coaches derailed, adding however that there was no casualty recorded.
Another source said that as soon as it happened, security agencies made up of Army, Police and others were deployed to the scene of the incident to join forces with the security personnel usually attached in case of any attack.
As at the time of this report, the Nigerian Railway engineers were seen effecting repairs the damaged parts of the rail track.
The Nigerian Railway Corporation is yet to issue a statement to explain the possible cause of the derailment of some of the coaches of the train.
