The Kaduna State Security Council on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, announced the complete lifting of the curfew imposed in the state as a result of the nationwide protest that later turned violent in parts of the State.
The decision followed an extensive review of the security situation in Kaduna and Zaria towns and their environs by the State Security Council under the leadership of Governor Uba Sani which hitherto imposed a curfew in the State from 6:00pm to 8:00am.

A statement by Mr Samuel Aruwan, Overseeing State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, said an extensive assessment of the security situation held on Monday night unanimously recommended the removal of the curfew, adding that the lifting of the curfew takes immediate effect from today Tuesday, 13th August 2024.
Aruwan said that with the development, law-abiding citizens are free to move and engage in legitimate activities in Kaduna and Zaria towns and their environs with no restriction.
He reiterated the commitment of the State Government to the security and safety of the citizenry in Kaduna State.
The Security Council warned that processions or gatherings must be verified with the relevant agencies to avoid any breakdown of law and order, and for the overall security of the members of the public.
Aruwan further said that security forces will continue to be on the lookout for threats to public peace, and will prosecute persons or groups posing such threats.
The statement also said that Governor Sani, who presided over the security meeting, commended the leadership of the security agencies, religious and traditional leaders, and all critical stakeholders for the roles they played in containing the unfortunate events which followed the protest in Kaduna and Zaria.
The Governor assured of his inclusive and participatory stance, adding that he would continue to engage them towards ensuring the peace, unity and development of Kaduna State.
