Kano Emirship Tussle: Police Deploy More Personnel To Two Palaces
The Nigeria police command in Kano State have deployed additional armed security personnel to the palaces of the two contending emirs in the metropolitan Local Government Areas of Kano State.
The outgoing Commissioner of Police, AIG Usaini Gumel, told journalists in Kano that fully equipped armed personnel have been deployed to handle any unforeseen circumstances around the identified areas.
Gumel said that the deployment of the armed personnel was to prevent security breach and ensure the maintenance of needed peaceful atmosphere pending the outcome of the tussle over the emirship in the state.
The outgoing Commissioner further said that the police command has reinforced its personnel deployment plans to ensure adequate security and peaceful coexistence in the state, adding that armed personnel were deployed to provide security at the Kofar Kudu Palace, residence of Emir Muhammadu Sunusi II, and the Nasarawa mimi Palace, where Emir Aminu Ado Bayero is resident.
Gumel therefore appealed for support from members of the public just as he urge residents to provide needed and required information that could aide in achieving peace, progress, and political stability in the State, adding that the police command in Kano is committed to providing the required security that will enable residents to pursue their legitimate activities without threats to lives and property.
