Keyamo’s Utterances: APC Govt. Completely Run Out Of Excuses For Failures – NEF

Following the statements by the Minister of State for Labour, Festus Keyamo, that security challenges enveloping Nigeria is not peculiar to the country, the Northern Elders Forum (NEF), has said that it has become so clear that the All Progressives Congress-led Federal Government has completely run out of excuses for its failure to secure the citizens and the country.

The NEF particularly said that with the kind of utterances coming from Keyamo, a serving minister and spokesman of the Tinubu presidential campaign team, it has become critical that Nigerians must make the right choice in 2023.

Spokesman of the NEF, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, who stated these while reacting to the expressions of Keyamo, stressed that whoever takes over from President Muhammadu Buhari must be ready to shoulder the heaviest burden any Nigerian leader has had to shoulder.

Baba-Ahmed noted that Keyamo was so insensitive to the feelings of Nigerians who are at the receiving end of the effect of insecurity ravaging the country thus was unperturbed to say that it was not peculiar to Nigeria.

The NEF accordingly, advised Nigerians to focus their attention on surviving until President Buhari leaves office and a new President takes over to begin the rebuilding process needed for the nation.

Commenting on Keyamo’s call on parents and guardians to appeal with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), to go back to classes as the Federal Government does not have money to settle them and was not prepared to borrow to meet their demands, the NEF said that Nigerians should look beyond this administration and current leadership of ASUU, stressing that public education has no constituency.

In the words of Baba-Ahmed;The situation with our universities and ASUU is testament to the spectacular failure of both the government and the academic community to live up to their responsibility.

“A comprehensive resolution of tertiary education challenges needs leadership that is committed to public education and the fate of our young ones,” he stressed.

The NEF further said that the unfortunate utterances of Keyamo, the spokesman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), presidential campaign team is a clear indication that government is now more than ever before short of excuses for its failures.
