It was a dark Wednesday for members of Bukpe community in Kwali Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as kidnappers stormed the area to abduct their traditional ruler, His Royal Highness (HRH) Alhaji Hassan Shamidozhi.

Reports said palpable fear and anxiety have taken the centre stage in the once sleepy community with the ugly development throwing residents into a state of confusion.

The incident, which occurred around 9:32 pm on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 was confirmed by the monarch’s brother, who is the Chief Imam of the Community’s Central Mosque, Malam Jibrin D. Gimba.

He told Daily Trust newspaper that the Royal father, who was seated in front of his palace receiving fresh air, was whisked away at gunpoint by the invaders.

According to Malam Gimba; “I just walked into my house from his palace after he talked about taking a shower after which he will come out to rest in front of his palace to take some fresh air.

“Some few minutes later, I started hearing gunshots… I watched through my window and discovered that the kidnappers had whisked him away.”

Gimba, who said the abductors were yet to make any contact with the family, disclosed that the attack was the third so far in the community.

He said hours after the incident had taken place, some policemen visited the community but later left without saying a word to the Community elders on the way forward in rescuing the monarch.

Meanwhile, as of the time of filing this report, an official statement was still being expected from the FCT Police Command.

The Command’s spokesperson, DSP Adeh Josephine, had also not responded to inquiries made by reporters on the incident.

However, Thursday morning into late afternoon was a beehive of activities around the palace of the abducted traditional ruler as concerned Community members, sympathisers and well wishers were seen milling around with some discussing the incident in hush-hush tones.
