BY ONYEKACHUKWU IBEZIM – The Governor of Enugu State, Peter Mbah has rolled out the drums and royal red carpet for Rangers International Football Club, gifting the newly-crowned Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) champions luxury plots of land and a mouth-watering ₦100 million cash reward for their title-winning heroics!

Governor Mbah announced the blockbuster packages in Enugu while celebrating the Flying Antelopes for bringing the coveted trophy back home in style during the just included 2025/2026 season.

For their impressive performance, the Coal City outfit is officially on cloud nine as they prepare to take their championship swagger to the continental stage for next season’s CAF Champions League.

Additionally, the governor announced the sum of ₦50 million for the management, and additional plots of land for the general manager, secretary, coach, and assistant coach of the club.

Writing on his X handle after meeting with the team on Wednesday, Governor Mbah said the players and officials earned the reward, adding: “What a season. What a team. They brought the trophy home again in style.

“As a token of that appreciation, I announced a plot of land in Enugu for each player, a cash reward of ₦100 million for the team, ₦50 million for the management, and additional plots of land for the general manager, secretary, coach, and assistant coach. They have earned it, every bit of it.

“This is what pride in Enugu looks like. This is what belief in our own looks like. And today, I am truly happy.”

With this recent League victory, Rangers International have drawn them level with Enyimba F.C. as the two most successful clubs in NPFL history.

The victory capped one of the most dramatic final-day title races in recent NPFL history, with ‎the Flying Antelopes ultimately finishing ahead of Rivers United, who defeated Katsina United 3-0 but fell just short in the championship race.

Both Rangers and Rivers United will represent Nigeria in next season’s CAF Champions League, while Shooting Stars S.C. secured a CAF Confederation Cup spot after finishing third.

The title triumph marked another landmark achievement for the Coal City club and has further cemented their place among Nigeria’s football elite.
